The Story Trek is a half hour unscripted TV show. Todd is the creator, executive producer and host for the BYUTV show. The Story Trek has now won 12 Emmy® Awards in categories ranging from program to writing to hosting.
The Story Trek had its beginnings in a TV news segment Todd did at KSTU-TV Fox 13 in Salt Lake City entitled Trippin’ with Todd. The premise was similar to The Story Trek where Todd would devise a random way to “find” someone to interview. He would blindly have someone point at a map or he would spin a pen in the air and go in the direction it pointed. It didn’t matter how he got there or where he went, Todd’s rule was simple, he would interview the first person who agreed.
The weekly Sunday night segments of Trippin’ with Todd became a huge hit and quickly won an Emmy® Award and Todd was voted Best Reporter in Utah by the Society of Professional Journalists. Todd, however, decided it was time to leave television for good.
Todd helped start up a marketing company in Utah and worked as a head hunter of senior level bankers around the country.
But broadcasting kept calling. He was asked to help produce a nationally syndicated reality show and when he heard BYUTV was looking for programming ideas he pitched the idea of turning his Trippin’ with Todd stories into a full show.
Todd’s company, TKH Productions, produces the show for BYUTV. Todd oversees the producing and writes the stories and narration for each episode. Todd’s passion is storytelling and it shines through in his work on The Story Trek.
The Story Trek airs Tuesday nights on BYUTV at 10pm ET/8pm MT. It is in nearly 90 million homes across the country on Dish Network 9403, DirecTV 374 and more than 500 cable systems. Check your local listings, or stream episodes online for free at www.byutv.org
